Qualifications

• Must possess a valid, current Medical Assistant certification or registration from a nationally recognized credentialing agency.
• Certification options include CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), RMA (American Medical Technologists), CCMA (National Healthcareer Association), NCMA (National Center for Competency Testing), or an equivalent credential.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients for life-threatening conditions, report changes promptly and intervene when care falls outside normal protocols.
• Obtain patient histories and vital signs, reassessing after treatment and ensuring accurate clinical documentation.
• Coordinate and carry out physician orders, anticipating diagnostic needs and supporting patient care workflows.
• Perform waived lab testing and maintain competency in quality control and patient testing procedures.
• Ensure proper medication administration within scope and clinic protocols, with a focus on safety and security.
• Provide comprehensive discharge instructions, involve family when appropriate, and facilitate referrals and community resources.
• Accurately document all patient interactions in Epic Ambulatory, including calls, visits, and billing charges.

Education

Certified Medical Assistant credentials (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA)
