Job description

Job Profile Summary

This role involves providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services according to physician orders, along with supporting duties such as basic patient care. The position does not require an RN or LPN license and operates under the supervision of physicians, mid-level practitioners, or registered nurses depending on the unit.

The role is suitable for individuals with specialized knowledge or skills gained through vocational education, training, and experience, mainly applied to patient care or scientific/laboratory tasks. It requires basic job procedure knowledge, works under moderate supervision, and may involve routine problem-solving and some interpretation of procedures.

Hours

Per Diem, Monday-Friday day shifts.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Completed MA education from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program, or graduated within 36 months prior to accreditation.
  2. CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Two years of medical office experience.
  3. Phlebotomy Certification.
  4. Bi-Lingual skills.
  5. Experience with electronic patient record systems.
Duties and Responsibilities

The following list describes the general nature of work; other duties may be assigned as needed.

  1. Manage patient flow to optimize provider and room utilization, communicating delays and adjusting as needed.
  2. Prepare medical records, verify patient information, and interview patients to gather data.
  3. Provide high-quality customer service, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and clean environment.
  4. Assist with patient admission processes and facilitate smooth transitions to inpatient units.
  5. Escort patients, prepare exam rooms, and ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety.
  6. Assess fall risks and implement safety measures; monitor patients as needed.
  7. Assist providers with exams, treatments, and procedures.
  8. Record vital signs, patient pain levels, and medication lists.
  9. Collect specimens and prepare supplies for provider use.
  10. Perform Point of Care Testing as ordered.
  11. May perform phlebotomy.
  12. Coordinate diagnostic testing, surgeries, and admissions under supervision.
  13. Assist with billing, documentation, and referral processing.
  14. Follow infection control protocols and maintain clinic cleanliness and supplies.
  15. Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  16. Provide administrative support, including interpreting services and communication management.
