Job summary

UNLV Health is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to support physicians in examination and treatment, ensuring high quality patient care and strict confidentiality.

The role requires certification or eligibility, CPR, and knowledge of EPIC and medical terminology. You will work in a fast-paced ambulatory setting, contributing to a team focused on patient safety and efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

• One year medical assisting experience in an ambulatory/clinical setting preferred.
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification or Registration required or obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• HIPAA confidentiality knowledge and practices.
• Knowledge of CLIA and OSHA guidelines.
• Knowledge of sterilization and disinfection procedures.
• Knowledge of medical and pharmacology terminology and medical office procedures.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Working knowledge of patient management software; EPIC preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Job description

Working Under the direction of physician/ provider. The MA is responsible to assist in the examination and treatment of patients delivering high quality care and services, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program Required

• Ability to identify and apply proper communication methods in patient instruction
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret and read documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent telephone and customer service skills
• Skills to implement good safety practices that prevent exposure to known workplace hazards and the necessary action needed when exposed
• Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods and techniques of a medical assistant to provide ongoing patient care
