Job Description

Become part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Specialty Medical Assistant in our Pediatric SubSpecialty clinic at Comer Children's. This role primarily involves administrative duties with opportunities to assist in clinics as needed. The Medical Assistant performs a variety of patient care services under supervision, which may include therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Essential Job Functions

• Practice the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Pride Values and Patient-Centered Care principles.
• Document all aspects of patient care per hospital policies.
• Assist providers with in-basket management and respond to messages.
• Manage MYCHART messages for all providers.
• Complete and prepare forms requested by the school system.
• Route prescription refills to providers.
• Schedule appointments and precert medications/services.
• Prepare FMLA paperwork.
• Assist with direct patient care as assigned, including performing tests and phlebotomy.
• Collect and label specimens following hospital standards.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program (CMA credential).
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR certification.
• Phlebotomy experience.
• Experience in a community health setting.
• Proficiency in communication, organization, and PC skills (Excel, Word, EPIC).
• Experience with computerized scheduling.
• Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details

• Type: Full Time (1.0 FTE).
• Shift: Evenings, 12:00pm - 8:30pm, Monday-Thursday, and 9:30am - 6:00pm on Friday.
• Location: Onsite at Pediatrics SubSpecialty.
