Job summary

Cleveland Clinic in Ohio is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform screenings and treatments, gather health-maintenance information, document patient care and support medication management.

The position includes administrative duties, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and adherence to health standards. The candidate should have clinical externship experience or extensive practice, plus required BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved medical assisting program OR military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).
• Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross; if not held, must obtain during the new hire period.
• Medical Assisting certification preferred.
• Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship preferred.
• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
• May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
• Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
• Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
• Must comply with annual influenza vaccination or obtain an approved exemption.
• Employment offers followed by controlled-substance testing.

• Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas.
• Perform administrative and clerical duties including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
• Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff.
• Support medication management, patient monitoring, clinical tasks, compliance and coordination with interdisciplinary teams.
• Work Monday through Thursday between 7:00am and 8:00pm, Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm, and weekends between 8:00am and 12:00pm
