Job summary

Northwest Physicians Group in Amarillo, Texas is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform a broad range of patient care duties under physician supervision. You will interview patients, take vital signs, perform venipuncture and document in the EMR, and help prepare examination rooms.

The role requires a Medical Assistant certificate or completion, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinic while supporting front desk activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant certificate required or must obtain certification within six months of employment.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with medical terminology required.
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol).
• General medical office procedures.
• Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol).
• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examination and treatment of patients under physician direction.
• Interview patients and document in Electronic Medical Records.
• Measure vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height).
• Perform venipuncture and related procedures as directed by the physician.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations and cover the front desk as needed.
