Job summary

Gastromed, Llc is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and staff with clinical and administrative tasks in a fast-paced Miami office.

Responsibilities include chart preparation, patient intake, vital signs, and assisting with telehealth visits while ensuring HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 1–2 years in a medical setting, and a good grasp of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred; reading, writing and speaking English.
• 1-2 years of related experience in a medical setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills with proper grammar.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Must comply with OSHA and HIPAA rules and regulations.
• Proficient with computers and EMR systems; able to navigate email and e-faxes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient charts prior to visits and ensure all documents are uploaded.
• Greet patients and escort to exam rooms.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, document meds and history.
• Recognize abnormal vitals and report to physician promptly.
• Assist with telehealth visits and patient follow-ups.
• Maintain patient flow and cleanliness of exam rooms.
• Follow infection control, universal precautions and HIPAA rules.
• Schedule/reschedule appointments and respond to patient inquiries.
