Job summary

Mercyhealth seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant in Illinois to support patient care across clinical and front-desk areas. You will greet patients, collect intake data, prepare them for examination, and assist clinicians with procedures and lab tasks, ensuring accurate charting and smooth workflow.

As part of a team, you will schedule appointments, manage reminders, verify records, coordinate referrals, and handle payments.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by ABHES/CAAHEP or equivalent.
• Clinical rotation experience preferred.
• CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
• Medication injection training and pharmacology competency required.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient for exam.
• Assists in examination, treatment and clinic procedures.
• Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and physician offices.
• Registers patients and verifies patient records are up to date in the system.
• Schedules appointments and enters appointment date/time into the scheduler.
• Conducts reminder calls to patients and handles triage inquiries.
• Greet visitors and assist as needed; manage payments and receipts.
• Maintains and orders supplies; prepares and maintains patient charts.
