Job summary

Avera Comprehensive Breast Care Sioux Falls is seeking a Medical Assistant to join a multidisciplinary team in a clinical setting. You will perform selected medical assistant and clerical duties that support patient care, ensure accurate documentation, and help maintain efficient clinic flow.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, taking histories and vital signs, labeling specimens, patient education, and coordinating front desk support as needed. Training provided to meet competency.

Qualifications

• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or CMA CNAs required upon hire.
• CMA by AMCA, AAMA, or RMA by AMT preferred upon hire.
• NCMA certification accepted upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency.
• Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record.
• Maintains timely flow of patients.
• Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests; provides education on procedures, medications, nutrition, disease processes and wellness.
• Greets patients and conducts clinical interviews collecting history and vital signs.
• Labels and processes lab specimens according to procedures.
• Maintains exam room with supplies; performs cleaning and equipment maintenance; handles bio-hazardous waste per policy.
• Provides back-up support for front desk tasks such as answering calls and scheduling.
