Job summary

Methodist Hospitals is seeking a Medical Assistant to support primary care teams in delivering patient-centered care. The role involves routine patient care, procedure support, and ensuring smooth patient flow within the clinic.

You will assist in urgent situations, perform basic tests, manage documentation, and help prepare patients for visits. A CMA/RMA certification and BLS are required within stated timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year medical assistant experience required.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant within 60 days of hire; preferred if already certified.
• BLS certification required.
• Strong medical terminology knowledge.
• Demonstrated professional courtesy and non-judgmental demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Assist in urgent and emergent medical situations and operate emergency equipment.
• Assist with follow-up processes: referrals, labs, and patient education materials.
• Help manage patient flow to minimize wait times and optimize exam rooms.
• Prepare, stock, and clean exam areas and workstations.
• Maintain ambulatory equipment, instruments, supplies; sterilize as required.
• Document patient care information in the medical record per policy.
• Obtain vital signs and prepare patients for visits.
• Perform basic tests (EKG, urine dip, pregnancy tests) and administer injections as ordered.
• Support patient and provider during procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
