Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in Edison, NJ is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians with patient care. This role requires a Monday–Friday 8:30 am–5:00 pm schedule and periodic rotations to the Old Bridge office.

You will measure vital signs, record history, assist with exams and minor procedures, perform phlebotomy, educate patients, and maintain supplies and safety. A High School diploma and CPR certification are required; 2–3 years of MA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively with varying populations
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures

Responsibilities

• Measure and record vital signs.
• Record patient interview, history and chief complaint.
• Provide patient education regarding policies, medications, management of diseased, home treatments and diets.
• Assist the physician with exams and minor office surgery.
• Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
• Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures.
• Use CPR skills when required.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, stocking, and sterilization of instruments.
• Practice OSHA safety standards.
• Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
• May triage patient phone calls/review prescriptions with patient as directed by physician.
• Perform Phlebotomy
