UofL Health, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the medical team in outpatient care. Responsibilities include triage, vitals, history taking, EKG, injections, and EHR data entry. The role supports surgical scheduling, patient education, and coordination with departments.

The position emphasizes HIPAA compliance, accurate documentation, and efficient patient flow through busy clinics. A diploma or degree in medical assisting is preferred, with BLS or related credentials often required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent (required).
• Medical Assisting Degree (preferred).

Responsabilités

• Obtains medical history, triage patients, record vitals.
• Reconciles medication list in EHR.
• Responds timely and appropriately to tasks.
• Reports any abnormal results to physician immediately (labs, etc.).
• Ensures all appropriate patient information is scanned into EHR.
• Assists physician in exam room as needed (suture/staple removal, dressing changes, minor procedures).
• Contacts facilities to schedule surgery/test or admissions.
• Codes diagnoses/procedures for insurance authorizations/appeals.
• Explains procedures to patients and families.
• Maintains physician’s surgery schedules.
• Answers multi-line phone system, triage calls, and directs messages.
• Schedules new and established patient appointments; registers patients with paperwork, insurance cards, and copayments.
• Maintains clean exam rooms.
• Completes KASPER query for med restrictions.
• Completes school/work statements, FMLA paperwork, and other forms.
• Checks patients out and schedules follow-ups.
• Orders office supplies and maintains waiting area.
• General office maintenance and reporting.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
