Job summary

Carbon Health in Oakland is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide patient care, including taking vitals, collecting history, and triaging urgent needs. You will support clinical procedures and ensure patient comfort.

Responsibilities include administering medications via intradermal, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes, performing EKGs, and basic point-of-care testing. You may also assist at the front desk and verify insurance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
• Current BLS certification; willingness to obtain DOT certification.
• 1+ year experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Great communication skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, patient history and triage.
• Assist with procedures such as incision and drainage, lacerations and wound care.
• Administer medications via intradermal, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes, complete ear lavages and run EKGs.
• Conduct POC lab testing such as urinalysis, urine pregnancy test, blood glucose testing, monospot, rapid strep and influenza testing, and rapid hiv testing.
• Manage the front desk and perform receptionist duties (patient registration, insurance verification, and etc)
• Complete training and become certified with the Department of Transportation to perform Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests
