Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills in speaking and writing.
• Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
• Computer skills that include word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Have at least one year experience as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height, BMI and neck circumference.
• Authorize drug refills as the Provider approves them and provide prescription information to pharmacies and prior authorizations from insurance companies for drug refills.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
• Help with HME department as needed.
• Contact patients after their study is complete to let them know the status of their HME.
• Send medical records when requested.
• Work with and assist other departments in daily functions and activities.
• Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
• Participate in the Company’s Performance Management program as requested by the PerformanceManagement Coordinator.
• Participate in Company committees when requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Office Manager.
