Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting at our El Paso location. You will perform a range of tasks under the supervision of a provider, including basic clinical duties, specimen collection, wound care, and documentation.

Requirements include CMA certification or ability to obtain within 180 days, BLS certification, and knowledge of medical terminology. Strong customer service and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Tuberculosis screening and proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within Medical Assistant scope of practice under supervision of provider.
• Operates diagnostic equipment (not interpreting tests).
• Removes staples, changes wound dressings, and collects specimens.
• Prepares and sterilizes medical equipment and rooms.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care per physician guidance and policies.
