Re-Hires may not have worked for AHN within the previous 12 months to qualify

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the provider and as a member of the healthcare team, assists in coordinating examination, treatment, and healthcare planning for patients. Supports office functions to ensure smooth patient care and operations. Follows all protocols, policies, procedures, and workflows established by AHN.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in coordinating patient care under supervision of healthcare provider, using a team-based approach.
  2. Prepare and room patients, obtain vital signs, document patient info, history, tobacco, and medication screening. Assist with depression screening tools, wellness visits, review and update medication lists, social history, and pending orders based on protocols.
  3. Perform back-office testing following AHN protocols and policies.
  4. Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
  5. Serve as a scribe with additional training if applicable.
  6. Follow up with patients via preferred method, notify test results as directed by provider.
  7. Prepare exam rooms, maintain inventory of supplies, ensure cleanliness and sterilization of instruments.
  8. Perform lab controls, equipment checks, and document medications accurately.
  9. Perform clerical duties and other assigned tasks.
  10. May require floating/travel between locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • High School / GED
  • Completion of Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of Medical Assistant or relevant patient care experience (vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, EKGs)
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance

Certification Requirements:

  • If graduated from a medical assistant program within 5 years or have 1 year of recent work experience, must complete certification training/testing within 30 days and obtain certification within 120 days of hire. Accepted certifications include NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA.

Employees not meeting these criteria may have the opportunity to sit for a company proctored exam when qualified.

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree
