Medical Assistant-Otolaryngology ENT Full Time Days $2,000 Sign On Bonus

This is a Full Time position at 40 hours per week located on the Lake Forest hospital campus, with some travel to the Grayslake clinic. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.

Description

The Medical Assistant supports Northwestern Medicine's mission, vision, and values, adhering to the Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, and complies with all policies, procedures, and standards.

The Medical Assistant is part of the healthcare team, primarily responsible for supporting physicians, nurses, and licensed staff by facilitating patient flow, assisting with patient care activities, and performing administrative functions. Responsibilities include ensuring efficient patient flow, maintaining a clean and safe environment, promoting patient satisfaction, and safeguarding confidentiality.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure efficient patient flow: escort patients, identify with two identifiers, obtain vital signs, document visit reasons, update allergies and medication info, alert staff of significant changes, prepare exam rooms, and respond to patient needs.
  • Assist practitioners with procedures such as ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, and waived testing.
  • Provide high-quality care: prepare exam rooms, participate in safety rounds, maintain inventory, monitor equipment, and follow sterilization protocols.
  • Promote patient satisfaction through professional interaction, assisting colleagues, attending staff meetings, and effective communication.
  • Perform delegated procedures safely and efficiently as per specialty protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Proof of eligibility for certification exams (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA).
  • For new graduates within 6 months: a letter from school or certifying body; beyond 6 months: a certifying body letter.
  • Within 6 months of employment, complete one of the following certifications: CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or NRCMA.
All Candidates/Incumbents:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
  • Signed acknowledgment to attain certification within 6 months.
  • Strong computer skills.
Preferred:
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • 1-2 years of ambulatory care experience.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
