MA will report to multiple locations:

  • Tempe: 5002 S Mill Ave Tempe, AZ
  • Phoenix: 2222 E Highland Ave, Suite 300, Phoenix AZ

Schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday - Phoenix 8:00am - 5:00pm (Monday Desk Day)
  • Tuesday and Thursday - Tempe 8:00am - 5:00pm
POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, as well as implementing and evaluating direct patient care. This role utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to deliver an excellent patient experience.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  1. Prepares patients for exams and treatments by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements; documents chief complaints and pain scores as appropriate. Reports any changes in patient condition to the clinician.
  2. Assists providers with exams and minor procedures, including taking blood pressure, respiration, heart rate, temperature, performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs. Acts as a chaperone as needed. Uses universal precautions and PPE at all times. Prioritizes patient flow through the clinical process.
  3. Coordinates and manages patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling. Communicates test results to patients. Acts as a resource to clinicians to ensure optimal patient care. May administer medications per policies or provider instructions.
  4. Provides clerical support, including maintaining complete medical records, labs, authorizations, X-rays, hospital records, and previous care documentation. Ensures timely billing information.
  5. Maintains a clean, functional environment by disinfecting equipment and exam rooms, following sterilization and OSHA guidelines. Performs basic equipment maintenance and coordinates repairs.
  6. Orders supplies, stocks care areas, and manages medication inventory, including expired or recalled medications and equipment.
  7. Develops effective communication channels with all stakeholders, exemplifying service orientation and teamwork.
  8. Completes onboarding and training activities as needed, including simulation training.
  9. Works under direct supervision of providers and interacts with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, managing data from multiple sources to support patient care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent; completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification (e.g., RMA, CMA, CCMA, NCMA) with proof of current membership. BLS certification required.
  • Strong computer skills, including medical software proficiency.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and organized.

Additional requirements regarding fingerprint clearance cards depend on the specific work location and role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with medical procedures, insurance, managed care, EMR, and scheduling software.
  • Additional related education or experience.
