The Medical Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients. They should understand principles of growth and development over the lifespan, assess patient data, interpret relevant information, and provide care according to departmental policies and procedures.

Job Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.
  • N-95 mask fitting required.
Experience

Previous customer service and/or medical office experience preferred.

Skills
  • Effective communication with personnel and patients.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, current drugs, and medical/legal considerations.
  • Ability to take concise histories, present information verbally, and demonstrate organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy and ability to learn new applications.
  • Capable of performing effectively under stress and interacting with diverse populations.
Required Certifications

BLS (AHA)

Essential Functions
Administrative Duties:
  • Answer phones, update and file records, code insurance forms, schedule appointments, and coordinate hospital admissions and procedures.
  • Manage inventory, purchase orders, and maintenance requests.
Medical Assistant Functions:
  • Take histories, explain procedures, prepare patients, collect specimens, perform tests, instruct on medications, draw blood, and assist providers.
  • Escort patients, document vital signs, and ensure all records are complete and organized.
  • Maintain exam rooms and handle communication with patients and staff.
Secondary Functions:
  • Attend meetings, stay updated on relevant education, and maintain CPR certification.
  • May be asked to float to different departments as needed.
