Medical Assistant, Certified - OrthoFast

We are currently seeking a full-time certified/registered Medical Assistant. Must be CMA or RMA certified through AAMA or AMT respectively. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a Medical Assistant in a mid-to large-sized medical practice, preferably orthopedics.


At OrthoFast, Medical Assistants are responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to the urgent care physicians and physician assistants during office call. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the patient for exam, obtains history and proper imaging
  • Assists with in-office procedures
  • Splinting and casting application and removal
  • Communicates with MD and PA regarding patient care
  • Obtains patient clinical information through our electronic medical record system
  • Accurately fits patients with Durable Medical Equipment
  • Draws injections, as directed by providers
  • Facilitates outside services for patient (i.e., Physical Therapy, Radiology)
  • Ensures that exam rooms are properly stocked and maintained

Ideally, candidates for this position should have a working knowledge of insurances and the ability to provide excellent patient customer service, as well as the ability to assist with a broad spectrum of patients. On-site training will be provided.


Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential; Bilingual candidates a plus
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and employees

Qualifications:

  • Must have current certification or registration
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience, preferably within an orthopedic practice, is preferred
  • Reliable transportation to commute to our Fairfield, Milford, Shelton, and Monroe locations
  • Must have night and weekend availability. One night a week, and two Saturdays a month.

Candidates will be courteous, articulate, and reliable and must be able to multi-task in a busy, professional, fast-moving environment while maintaining excellent customer service.
