We are currently hiring for a Medical Assistant (MA) or Clinical Team Assistant, CNA at MaineHealth, Portland Primary Care!

For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering sign-on bonuses for Medical Assistants and CTAs:

  • 0-1 years of experience: $4,000 (full-time) - MA
  • 1+ years of experience: $5,000 (full-time) - MA
  • Clinical Team Assistants: Up to $2,500 sign-on bonus

Eligible candidates are hired into a full or part-time MA position. Bonus amounts are prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees and those with more than 6 months separation from MaineHealth are ineligible.

Our Family Medicine practice is looking for a Medical Assistant who is motivated, enjoys learning in a fast-paced environment, and is open to assisting with teaching our Resident providers. We care for patients of all ages, including obstetrics, sports medicine, and more. This role supports both our Peaks Island and Portland clinics.

Summary - Medical Assistant:

The Medical Assistant (MA) performs duties related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment, promoting smooth patient flow. The MA functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience; or completed an Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months of clinical experience; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice. Equivalent experience evaluated case-by-case.
  2. License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification preferred or achieved within 1 year. Current BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start. For positions in New Hampshire, NH Med Tech License or NH EMT/National Registry EMT license is required.
  3. Experience: Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Summary - Clinical Team Assistant:

The CTA performs daily patient service functions to support the clinical team. The CTA functions under the license of a provider when performing clinical and patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited health sciences program, or a student in a health science program with clinical experience; or completed an MA program without externship; or a healthcare vocational program with patient-facing component; or completion of a CTA apprentice program or equivalent clinical experience, evaluated case-by-case.
  2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification within three months of hire required.
  3. Experience: N/A
