The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in the Clinical office team, performing both administrative and clinical duties. Responsibilities include obtaining patient intake information, performing delegated tasks and treatments, providing limited patient education, scheduling tests and procedures, and supporting patient care.



Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred: 7-11 months of relevant experience.



Patient Care Responsibilities
  1. Engage in population-appropriate communication, considering growth, development milestones, and cultural norms.
  2. Provide clear instructions to patients and involve families in care as appropriate.
  3. Identify physical limitations and respond with appropriate interventions.
  4. Recognize behavioral health issues and respond accordingly.
  5. Perform clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, EKGs, and lab specimens, adhering to universal precautions.
  6. Assist providers with documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including notes, orders, and prescriptions.
  7. Prepare and maintain the clinic environment, including cleaning, stocking, and equipment maintenance.
  8. Handle routine patient communications, such as prescription refills and pre-certifications, with proper documentation.
  9. Coordinate ancillary services like testing, imaging, and hospital procedures.
  10. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
Administrative Duties
  • Utilize computer applications for various administrative tasks.
  • Answer phones, greet patients, and manage medical records.
  • Handle insurance forms, scheduling, and billing.
  • Assist with age-appropriate care implementation for specific patient populations.
