Job summary

New York Health (NYH) seeks a Medical Assistant to support our OBGYN team across multiple Long Island and Manhattan locations. You will handle patient intakes, record vital signs, prepare exam rooms, and assist clinicians during visits with precision and care.

Responsibilities include lab specimen handling, EKGs, and entry into the EMR system; you will adhere to safety protocols and duties as assigned. We offer comprehensive benefits and a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma.
• EMR system proficiency preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes and record accurate information.

• Record patients' vital signs and prepare for examinations.
• Sterilize equipment and assist clinicians during visits.
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
• Support data entry and coordinate with office staff.

• Follow PPE and safety protocols when handling patient specimens.

Location:

Port Jefferson, Patchogue, Smithtown, & Wading River, NY

5 8.5 hour days, Mon-Fri between 7:30am-8pm

Job Description:

In this role, you will:

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests
• Record patients' vital signs
• Prepare patients for examinations
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments
• Assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing
• Other duties as assigned

We require:

• A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma
• Proficiency with an EMR system (Preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
