Job Details

New Hire Bonus for eligible candidates.

The Medical Assistant assists physicians in assessing, examining, and treating patients. Responsibilities include managing patient flow and performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and taking vital signs. Acts as a liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction. Maintains and orders supplies for their area as needed.
* Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
* Escorts patients to exam rooms and verifies proper identification.
* Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
* Remains proficient with and knowledgeable about the use and documentation within information technology systems within the scope of practice.
* Assists physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures; may perform EKGs and venipuncture/injections using appropriate skills to provide quality care.
* Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security standards.
* Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and ensure smooth office operations.

Job Description

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire. BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania locations.
  • Experience in a physician's office or healthcare setting preferred.
  • For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • For internal Einstein applicants only: Medical Assistant certification is not required for current Einstein employees in a Medical Assistant role hired before 7/1/2024 transferring within Einstein entities.
