Reports to the Practice Manager.**Job Description:**Job Description## Location**Mount Auburn OBGYN – Waltham, Massachusetts**## ## About the RoleJoin Mount Auburn OBGYN in Watertown as a Medical Secretary supporting patients, providers, and daily front-desk operations in a busy outpatient practice.You will welcome patients, coordinate appointments, manage calls and messages, verify insurance information, support referrals, and maintain accurate and confidential patient records.## What You’ll Do* Greet patients in person and over the phone in a courteous and professional manner* Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using the electronic health record* Register new patients and update existing patient information* Manage incoming calls, messages, and faxes* Communicate patient information to providers and staff promptly* Verify insurance eligibility and process insurance information* Collect co-pays and process payments* Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential patient records* Prepare correspondence, reports, and medical documents* Coordinate specialist referrals and follow up on authorizations* Support medical staff with administrative tasks* Maintain a clean and welcoming front desk and waiting area* Cross-train and assist other team members when needed## What Success Looks LikeYou will be successful in this role if you are:* Professional and compassionate with patients* Organized and able to manage several responsibilities at once* Accurate and attentive to detail* Comfortable working with computers and electronic health records* Clear and professional in written and verbal communication* Able to work independently and follow established procedures* Calm and adaptable in a busy medical practice* Committed to patient privacy and confidentiality* Willing to cross-train and support your colleagues## Why Consider This Opportunity?This role offers broad experience in outpatient OBGYN operations, including patient service, scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, medical records, and provider support.It is well suited to someone who enjoys working directly with patients while helping a medical practice remain organized and responsive.## Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required* High school graduate.* Graduate of accredited secretarial training school preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, word processing equipment, and personal computers* Two years of experience in a busy medical practice setting. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of pre-admission and pre-testing requirements helpful.* Working knowledge of insurance regulations and form completion. Ability to be trained in CPT and ICD9 coding. Knowledge of billing system helpful.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and follow directions.* Effective telephone manner and ability to communicate with patients, physicians, and other professional staff.* Computer skills are necessary.## Working ConditionsJob requires physical stamina; many hours/days on the feet Ability to walk and stand for up to 90% of work time, to push, pull and to lift 10 lbs. All staff are expected to cross train and help each other when needed. Job requires some weekends and evenings. Busy medical practice environment.Mount Auburn Hospital employees must be able to readily adjust to change and handle a rapid-paced environment and the stresses associated with that, while continuing to provide high-quality, efficient service.**Pay Range:**$21.00 – $28.26The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
