Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on patient experience.
• Upon hire, all MAs complete a clinical competency assessment and MA orientation.

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow.
• Managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures.
• Performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers.
• This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required.
• Experience must include direct, hands‑on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
• Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
• Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
