Job summary

Baptist Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for BHMG General Surgery in Lexington, KY. The role focuses on frontline patient care, vital signs, history collection, and support for providers in a busy surgical practice.

The MA will manage EPIC charting, assist with procedures, and handle scheduling, test coordination, and medication requests. On-site presence and a clinical competency assessment are required for orientation and successful onboarding.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of one year of direct, hands‑on patient care in a clinical setting.
  • Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
  • Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant (MA) Trainee Program for further development and reevaluation.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities
  • Obtaining vital signs.
  • Reconciling medications.

Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of one year of direct, hands‑on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinic procedures (e.g. EKGs, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
  • Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
  • Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant (MA) Trainee Program for further development and reevaluation.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Requirements
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT or AAMP OR active Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
  • Medical Assistant, MA, CMA, Certified Medical Assistant, Clinical, Office, Clinic, RMA, Registered Medical Assistant, RN, Registered Nurse, LPN, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA.
