Job summary

Baton Rouge General in Baton Rouge is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. The role supports physicians and handles responsibilities in patient care and documentation.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of clinic experience and current MA certification. Training in phlebotomy and medication administration is expected, with emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; MA program completion ideal.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification required.
• Experience in patient care and basic clinical procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician in coordinating age-appropriate care for patients, under supervision.
• Perform basic patient assessments including vital signs, height, weight, and history gathering.
• Identify and communicate urgent concerns to the physician promptly.
• Administer medications and treatments with 100% accuracy, following physician orders and clinic policy.
• Perform phlebotomy and other clinical procedures in compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Respond to patient-related phone calls, assess needs, document actions, and communicate with physicians.
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with clinical charge entries.
• Support data management processes and other clinic operations as needed.
