Job description

Medical Assistant - OB_GYN West Bloomfield - Full Time

Under the direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in providing quality and compassionate care to patients.

The duties may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room.
  2. Obtaining medical histories.
  3. Measuring and recording vital signs.
  4. Preparing patients for examinations or procedures.
  5. Assisting the provider during examinations or procedures.

Schedule: Half-day Saturday shifts approximately 1 to 2 times a month from 8 am to 12 noon.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Preferred: Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
  • Preferred: Ability to perform clinical skills related to ambulatory care.
  • Preferred: Problem-solving skills and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Preferred: EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience.
  • Preferred: Certified Medical Assistant credentials from AAMA/CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA.
Additional Requirements:
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with a minimum 160-hour clinical externship, OR
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program with at least one year of recent clinical experience, OR
  • Current recognized Medical Assistant Certification with at least five years of clinical experience, OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), OR
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of recent clinical experience, OR
  • Military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of recent clinical experience.
Certifications and Licenses:
  • Current BLS-C certification upon hire or by the end of orientation.
