UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the OB/GYN Associates of Pittsburgh at Magee Women's Hospital. This practice offers gynecologic and obstetric care, serving patients for routine care, contraception, surgical needs, and pregnancy care.

Hours are Monday through Friday, primarily daylight hours, starting as early as 6:30 am and ending around 5:00 pm, with occasional evening shifts until 7:00 pm. No weekends or holidays are required. The role involves back and front office duties. Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. The listed pay range is for a Medical Assistant, Senior, requiring prior patient care experience, certification, or a Medical Assistant degree.

Responsibilities:
  1. Guide workflow and assign tasks to clinical staff.
  2. Assist management with supervisory activities; participate in departmental goals, processes, and procedures; mentor and train staff.
  3. Serve as the department super user for Epic Care.
  4. Identify improvement opportunities in clinical and non-clinical functions.
  5. Communicate procedural changes through routine staff meetings.
  6. Perform practice-specific tasks proficiently.
  7. Handle patient records in compliance with HIPAA and regulations.
  8. Manage lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals, and scheduling; verify insurance and patient info.
  9. Maintain charts, prepare exam rooms, and manage supplies.
  10. Coordinate patient flow, assist with patient needs, and perform screenings and vital signs.
  11. Provide patient education and support as needed.
  12. Answer calls and relay pertinent information.
  13. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision.
  14. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assist with procedures; document information.
  15. Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain confidentiality.
