Job Description for Medical Assistant at Harbor Health

Harbor Health is seeking skilled Medical Assistants (MAs) to join our innovative multi-specialty clinic group in Austin, TX. We employ a modern approach to healthcare, focusing on co-creating health with patients and building a system that centers on the human being.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborating with the clinical team to execute care tasks as directed by providers
  2. Delivering care according to the member's care plan
  3. Handling opening and closing procedures for daily operations
  4. Supporting the care team to meet clients' needs and ensure proper hand-offs

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent of 10 years' experience as an MA
  • At least 3 years of experience in primary care
  • CPR Certification
  • Computer proficiency with EHR systems and reporting
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse populations
  • Effective teamwork and independent work capabilities
  • Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating ethical behavior

Physical Requirements:

  • Working irregular hours in a physically demanding, moderate-stress environment
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, reach, bend, and handle objects

Preferred Skills & Experiences:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Experience with Phlebotomy
  • BLS Certification
