Job summary

TriHealth Cancer and Blood Institute in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in examination and treatment, take vital signs, perform delegated duties, and help maintain patient charts.

You will be cross-trained to enhance efficiency and collaborate with a team focused on high-quality patient care. The role includes phlebotomy, injections, and basic lab tasks under CLIA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)

  • Up to 1 year experience in a physician office or related setting

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to physicians/clinical staff.
  • Skillfully performs/obtains tests and specimens ensuring proper departmental procedures are followed
  • Performs technical skills according to hospital's and department's policies/procedures, appropriate competencies, and accepted standards of practice.
  • Maintains a high level of efficiency, organization, and time management skills to promote efficiency in the Medical Center.
  • Demonstrates strong written, verbal and phone skills; notifies appropriate team members of abnormal test results or emergent situations
  • Accurately documents patient care in chart and maintains confidentiality of patient records
  • Maintains general appearance and cleanliness of exam rooms, supply areas, and nurses station

Job Overview

This position assists the physician in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of physician. This position also interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts, and prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. The position will be cross‑trained to perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of delivery of patient care; work cooperatively within the team concept demonstrating flexibility, motivation and commitment to quality patient care. This position’s tasks include patient related duties, medical record maintenance/documentation, and safety/environmental duties.

  • Accurately and safely maintains general appearance and cleanliness of exam rooms, supply areas, and nurses station. Disposes of contaminated equipment and disposable supplies in accordance with infection control guidelines
