Job summary

OhioHealth in Riverside, OH is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in clinical and administrative tasks. You will prep patients, document in EMR, and maintain a clean work environment in a Neurosurgery setting.

The role requires a high school diploma, Medical Assistant training, EMT-P certification, and BLS, with at least one year of relevant experience. Day shifts, 40 hours per week, on-site position in Riverside.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program.
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting.
  • Completion of Military Medic training.
  • Certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P).
  • At least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting.
  • BLS – Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate patient flow, preparing patients for visits and providing services as directed by providers, in accordance with licensure, Ohio policy, and scope of practice.
  • Document patient encounters in Care Connect EMR and maintain up-to-date information.
  • Maintain and clean work area and equipment, and report malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate respectfully and collaboratively with patients, customers, and the health care team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Collect and monitor patient data, report findings, and ensure documentation meets chargeable items guidelines.
  • Support process and quality improvement activities, recommend operational efficiencies, and implement new services.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and complete required training and education.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert in quality, performance improvement, and EMR, including EPIC Super User responsibilities.
  • Precede new staff training as a clinical preceptor, ensuring compliance with scope of practice.
  • Focus on safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician. The Medical Assistant assists the physician with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code. Other responsibilities include routine clinical and administrative tasks as needed to meet the needs of the practice.
