Job summary

UF Health Neuroscience in Daytona Beach is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a physician-led practice. You will provide direct patient care under physician supervision, assist with procedures, record medical histories, and prepare patients for visits.

The role covers clinical and administrative tasks, including scheduling, insurance verification, patient communications, and accommodating float to other UF Health practices as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant from an accredited organization such as AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMCA or AMT.

The Medical Assistant provides patient care in a physician’s office setting under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. Clinical skills performed are within the scope of a Medical Assistant as defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure.

This role supports both clinical and administrative functions within the practice. The Medical Assistant may also be required to float to other UFHP practices as needed to support staffing needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• EMT license may be accepted in lieu of MA certification

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care or physician office setting

Licensure / Certification Requirements

• Must possess and maintain current Medical Assistant certification or registration


• Basic Life Support (BLS / CPR) certification required

  • Certification must be through the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross
