Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • One of the following: completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program; graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting; completion of Military Medic training; certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P); or at least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills.
  • Compliance with scope of practice.
  • Completion of required continuous training and education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician.
  • Assist physicians with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow by preparing patients for visits and providing provider-directed services.
  • Complete Care Connect EMR documentation.
  • Perform administrative duties and maintain current patient information, including monitoring the EMR inbox.
  • Maintain and clean the environment, work area, and equipment; report malfunctions.
  • Collect and monitor patient data and report patient needs as directed.
  • Maintain documentation for patient chargeable items and services.
  • Monitor quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency of processes and services.
  • Participate in process and quality improvement activities and implement operational recommendations.
  • Promote patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert/resource in quality, performance improvement, and EMR, including EPIC Super User responsibilities.
  • Support development of standard work and necessary customizations.
  • Function as a clinical preceptor and train new staff.
  • Communicate and collaborate with patients, customers, providers, and the healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care
