Job summary

Doctors Urgent Care in Wisconsin seeks a Medical Assistant (Certified MA, NCT credentials preferred) for full-time or part-time roles. The MA reports to the Clinic Manager and provides clinical care under physician supervision, documenting in EMR and preparing patients for examinations.

Qualifications

  • NCT license with x-ray experience, minimum 1 year.
  • Current professional certification in medical assisting or eligible within 90 days of employment.
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification
  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience preferred
  • Minimum of one-year front desk experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment under deadline situations
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use a computer and enter data in a medical management application

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional care for patients following standards and physician supervision
  • Document patient communications and interventions in the EMR
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during treatments and testing
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Record medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint
  • Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection per CLSI standards
  • Maintain lab specimen logs
  • Interpret and carry out provider orders
  • Prepare and administer medications using aseptic technique
  • Proficient in point-of-care testing and routine in-office procedures
  • Observe patient responses to medications and report adverse events
  • Coordinate outpatient testing and referrals
  • Coordinate hospital pre-admission when necessary
  • Prepare and restock examination and procedure rooms
  • Represent clinic professionally and courteously
  • Attend required meetings and participate in team/professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform timely radiology procedures and quality control checks on radiologic equipment

Job Description

This position is for a Medical Assistant (Certified MA, NCT credentials and front desk experience are strongly preferred.) We are accepting positions for full-time and part time positions.

This individual will report to the Clinic Manager. The Medical Assistant will be tasked with providing professional care for all patients following established standards and practices and will work under direct supervision of the physician. All matters outside of their scope of duties will be deferred to the physician and/or Site Manager.

POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties in accordance with clinical, OSHA and infection control standards
  • Document all patient-related communication and interventions in patient’s electronic medical record
  • Prepare patients for examination and assists physician during treatment, examinations and testing of patients
  • Measure and record vital signs
  • Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint
  • Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection in accordance with Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards, including control testing
  • Maintain lab specimen logs
  • Interpret and carry-out provider order
  • Prepare and administer medications applying aseptic technique
  • Proficient in point of care testing and standard in-office procedures (nebulizer treatments, injections, basic wound care, procedure set-up
  • Observe patient response to medications administered and reports adverse events to provider
  • Coordinate out-patient testing and referrals as necessary
  • Coordinate hospital pre-admission when necessary
  • Prepare, restock and disinfect examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas at scheduled intervals and as needed
  • Represent clinic in a professional manner
  • Treat all customers and fellow employees in a courteous and cooperative manner.
  • Attend required meetings
  • Participate in team activities and professional development activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Performs timely and quality radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician
  • Performs quality control checks/audits on radiologic equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of Medical Assistant program
  • NCT License with x-ray experience, minimum 1 year (strongly preferred)
  • Current professional certification in medical assisting or eligible for certification within 90 days of employment
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification

EXPERIENCE

  • 1+ year of clinical experience in a patient care setting is highly preferred
  • Experience using an EHR system is extremely helpful
  • Insurance Verification and Eligibility experience

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Non-Registered Technician (NCT) license for limited x-ray in the state of Texas (preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant license (required)
  • Current BLS Certification is required within 30 days of start.
