Job Description And Duties

  • Recruitment and Retention Bonus may be available for clinicians newly hired with California Correctional Health Care Services.
  • This classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) Authorization of the California State Civil Service Pay Scales. The authorized HAM rate for this classification is $4423-$5024.
  • Please note: Individuals may be eligible to receive a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend should they meet the eligibility criteria, including but not limited to remaining employed with CCHCS for six months. Additionally, individuals may be eligible to receive a monthly recruitment and retention differential during their first year with CCHCS (totaling $5,000), should they meet the eligibility criteria.


IMPORTANT: California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus should you be selected for hire, and remain employed with CCHCS for 90 days. Under the administrative supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), and the clinical supervision of a Physician and Surgeon, CF, Physician and Surgeon, CF (Internal Medicine/Family Practice) or Staff Psychiatrist, Correctional and Rehabilitative Services (Safety), the Medical Assistant (MA) provides support to primary care providers or Psychiatrists in a variety of health care settings. The MA is responsible for addressing the ongoing needs of patients, working with the physicians, psychiatrist and other health care providers, and promoting the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Minimum Qualifications :

Possession of a valid certificate from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California to practice as a Medical Assistant.
