Job summary

UW Health dermatology and Mohs surgery teams are seeking a Medical Assistant (MA, CMA, RMA, CCMA, LPN) to support physicians and APPs in a fast-paced clinic, including biopsies, excisions, and wound care.

Responsibilities include assisting with phototherapy, laser procedures, and patient education, delivering compassionate care in a patient-family-centered environment. Various MA pathways are recognized for hire.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; one of the listed pathways to MA licensure is accepted.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program or MA apprenticeship program.
  • LPN licensure upon hire or CMA/RMA/CCMA certification required upon hire.
  • CPR/BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dermatology and Mohs surgeries, including biopsies, excisions, and wound care.
  • Provide hands-on support during procedures and post-operative care.
  • Facilitate phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, or laser procedures.
  • Deliver patient-centered care and promote healthy lifestyles.

Job description

Work Schedule:

Part time, 80% FTE, day shift. Hours are Tuesday 9:30-4:30, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. No weekends required. Hours will vary based on the operational needs of the department.

We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant (MA, CMA, RMA, CCMA, LPN) - Dermatology and Mohs Surgery to:

  • Join our UW Health dermatologists and advanced practice providers who diagnose and treat diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes in a fast-paced clinic.
    Provide hands‑on assistance with dermatology and mohs surgical procedures, including biopsies, excisions, and wound care.
  • Facilitate services such as phototherapy, photodynamic therapy or laser procedures.
  • Deliver quality care in a compassionate and patient-family-centered environment.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, wellness, and education.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and ONE of the following Required
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program or
  • Licensure as an LPN or
  • Completion of the UWH Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program or an Employee Partner Medical Assistant Program or
  • Attainment of the CCMA certification as a UWH employee or
  • Acceptance into the UWH MA Apprenticeship Program - Accelerated or
  • One year of recent Medical Assistant experience and CMA, RMA or CCMA Certification
Work Experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or LPN Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Certified as MA, CMA, RMA, or CCMA within 1 Year Required or
  • Licensure as an LPN Upon Hire Required
  • If applying in lieu of Medical Assistant education or LPN licensure, must have current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification Upon Hire Required
  • CPR/BLS certification Upon Hire Required
