DEFINITION:
The Medical Assistant (MA) is accountable for assisting in the delivery of patient care in the clinic during office hours. The medical assistant is accountable to the Physician/Provider, Office Supervisor, Department Director, patient, and family for patient care functions. Patient population includes all age groups to include children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduated from a Medical Assistant Program. Provides documentation showing completion of the medical assistant program, which needs to be presented at the time of hire allowing the hospital to verify completion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One to two years of physicians’ office experience, as a MA, preferably in primary care.
