Job summary

Marshall Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant for its orthopedic clinic to support providers in an outpatient setting. You will prepare exam rooms, obtain patient history, assist with procedures such as injections and pre-op activities, and ensure timely, dignified patient care.

This role requires MA program completion or prior MA experience, BLS certification, and MA certification per California standards.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or MA experience preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • To qualify for Medical Assistant 2: MA certification from CCMA or CMA (AAMA) or approved certifying body required.
  • Knowledge of injections, EKGs, medication administration and/or vital signs.
  • Basic computer/EMR experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and patient education.
  • Skilled in removing splints and casts, staple and stitch removal when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in outpatient orthopedic clinic with procedures (arthrocentesis, injections, pre-op).
  • Prepare exam rooms and obtain patient information/history.
  • Prepare patients for X-rays and sterilize instruments.
  • Document accurately in EMR and ensure timely care delivery.
  • Float to other Marshall Medical clinics as needed to support operations.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations as needed.

Prepares exam rooms, obtains patient medical information/ history, prepares patients for x-rays, sterilizes instruments and performs clerical duties as well. Ensures effective medical care is delivered to all patients in a timely, dignified, and caring manner. Medical Assistants of Marshall Medical Center will be expected to float to other clinics when needed and perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and achievements of all Marshall Medical Clinics.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: # # Education/Licensure/Certification:* Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.* To qualify for Medical Assistant 2: Current Medical Assistant (MA) certification from the California Certified Medical Assistant Board (CCMA) or the National American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required or an approved certifying body required.Knowledge:* Previous experience with injections, EKG’s, medication administration and/or taking vital signs required.* Basic computer/data entry and electronic medical record (EMR) experience required.* Knowledge of medical terminology, patient/family health education required.* Skilled in removing splints and casts, staple and stitch removal are required.# # Skills:* Accurate and clear clinical documentation in Electronic Medical Record.* Excels in verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.* Strong organizational skills and the ability to reprioritize work demands as needed.* Possesses a pleasant and friendly demeanor and ability to maintain a positive and team oriented attitude.* Comfortable with regularly verifying and processing insurance eligibility and obtaining authorization requests, including verifying personal credentials with external partners to obtain this information (e.g., ID.me for identity verification for VA insurance coordination).
