Job summary

UW Health seeks a Medical Assistant (MA, CMA, RMA, CCMA, LPN) for Urgent Care in Madison, WI. This part-time role (0.9 FTE) includes day/evening shifts and alternating weekends/holidays. You will support urgent care operations and patient flow with EKGs, injections, and essential clinical tasks.

You will work with physicians, PAs, and NPs to provide on-demand acute care, prepare patients, and assist with procedures. UW Health values growth, benefits, and work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program required.
• LPN licensure required upon hire.
• Completion of the UWH Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program or Employee Partner Medical Assistant Program.
• CCMA certification as a UWH employee.
• Acceptance into the UWH MA Apprenticeship Program - Accelerated.
• One year of recent Medical Assistant experience and CMA, RMA or CCMA certification.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in urgent care with treatment of nonlife-threatening conditions.
• Prepare patients by obtaining history, checking vital signs, documenting chief complaint, medications and allergies, perform EKGs and administer medications and treatments.
• Assist with and/or perform various procedures.
• Assist in assessing and stabilizing emergent, life-threatening patients for transport via EMS to the emergency department.

Job description

Work Schedule:

Part time, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week), day/evening shift position. Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation is required.

Shift times vary and include:

Weekdays: 7:45 am - 4:15 pm, 7:45 am - 1:00 pm, 7:45 am - 8:15 pm, 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm and 4:00 - 9:00

Weekends (every other): 7:45 am - 6:00 pm

Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program Required or
• Licensure as an LPN or
• Completion of the UWH Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program or an Employee Partner Medical Assistant Program or
• Attainment of the CCMA certification as a UWH employee or
• Acceptance into the UWH MA Apprenticeship Program - Accelerated or
• One year of recent Medical Assistant experience and CMA, RMA or CCMA Certification
• High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or LPN Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Certified as MA, CMA, RMA, or CCMA within 1 Year Required or
• Licensure as an LPN Upon Hire Required
• If applying in lieu of Medical Assistant education or LPN licensure, must have current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification Upon Hire Required
• CPR/BLS certification Upon Hire Required
