Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Foundation is seeking a Medical Assistant to support daily patient flow and assist the medical team across multiple clinics, including Santa Paula. You will prepare charts, help with exams and procedures, and relay physician instructions, while accurately taking vital signs and managing EMR records.

The role requires completion of a Medical Assistant program and CPR/BLS certification, with preference for outpatient experience.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Formal Medical Assistant program completed (DHMF/H.R. dept./state ally)
• CPR/BLS certification must be current on hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient charts and assist with exams/ procedures.
• Relay physician instructions and administer physician-directed medications.
• Perform vital signs and manage patient records (charts/EMR).
• Communicate patient concerns to providers and coordinate with insurance/pharmacies for authorizations and refills.
• Float to multiple clinic locations as needed.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Assistant, you will ensure smooth daily operations for your patients and the medical team. You can expect to support multiple patients daily, depending on physician availability.

Every day you will proactively prepare patient charts, assist with patients exams or procedure and relay physician instructions, administer physician-directed medication and perform accurate vital sign measurements, manage medical records (charts and EMR), communicate patient concerns to providers, and collaborate with physicians, insurance, and pharmacies for medication authorizations and refills.

As a Float Medical Assistant you will be assigned to various clinic locations based upon business needs.

To be successful in this role, you must have an enthusiasm to help others and the ability to work efficiently and provide empathy for our patients.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate or High School GED
• Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determination by DHMF H.R. department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions.)
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Preferred

• Six (6) month's experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred
• Six (6) month's experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Office Receptionist preferred; or an equivalent amount of experience in a high-volume customer service role in another industry/environment; or 6 months experience as a Phone Receptionist or Health Information Associate within DHMF
