UnityPoint Health - Meriter in Madison, WI is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join the outpatient care team. The MA performs clinical tasks, assists providers, and handles clerical duties to keep clinics running smoothly during the day shift.

This 0.9 FTE, 36-hour week role offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus, weekday days, and eligible benefits. You will support phlebotomy when needed and contribute to safe, quality patient care aligned with our values.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or an equivalent credential.
• Current CPR certification and ability to work with diverse patient ages.
• Outstanding organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced clinic.
• Professional appearance and strong teamwork abilities are essential.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities with independence.
• Willingness to assist with phlebotomy if needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical, patient-related and clerical tasks in ambulatory care.

• Collaborate with RNs, PAs, NPs, and physicians to optimize workflow.

The Medical Assistant (MA) functions as a member of the clinic's patient care team that includes registered nurses (RN), clinic assistants, technicians, clerical staff, physician assistants (PA), nurse practitioners (NP), and physicians. The MA performs technical, patient related functions and clerical functions in the ambulatory setting. The MA is also aware of psychosocial needs of patients and families. The MA will support clinic operations and deliver patient care focusing on safe, quality care to ensure that UnityPoint Health - Meriter's values are met. The position may fill in for phlebotomy as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (One year program at Vocational School) -or- Completion of an accredited LPN Program -or- Completion of an accredited EMT Program - or - a current CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification.
• Current CPR certification
• Enjoys working with variety of patient ages and conditions/diagnosis
• Excellent organizational, internal, and external service excellence skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to present oneself as a professional
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, ever changing environment with multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Holds current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant OR Licensed Practical Nurse

• Knowledge of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) System
• Prior knowledge/experience working with regulatory standards (e.g. CMS, Joint Commission)
