UF Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in a healthcare setting. This role includes preparing patients for exams, maintaining medical records, and providing essential support for patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient assistance and clerical functions, with essential certifications required within the first month of employment.
The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties including preparing patient for medical examination, charting medical histories, maintaining medical records, scheduling patient appointments and other clerical tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinical services.
High School Diploma/Equivalent is required.
Required:
Successful completion of a formal Medical Assistant program from an accredited school or Associate's Degree and / or Successful completion of a formal patient care technician (PCT) program from an approved program and / or Successful completion of a formal emergency medical technician (EMT) program and / or
Successful completion of a formal paramedic program
1 year of Providing direct care as medical assistant or related role in a healthcare setting
-OR-
Graduate of Medical Assistant program from formal school or program, obtaining a certification or registration certificate. Program must have hands on practical experience as part of the curriculum.
Successful completion of a PCT, EMT or paramedic program can be used in lieu of the experience listed above.
Preferences:
Medical Assistant Certification or Registered Medical Assistant.
Additional Information:
BLS, provided by American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire.
