Job Description

The Medical Assistant works under general supervision to perform a variety of procedures, including patient-specific duties. The role requires knowledge of clinical tasks, adherence to scope of practice updates, and flexibility to float between departments and travel as needed. Responsibilities include processing outside referrals, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring communication of outcomes.

Required Skills
  1. Utilize approved processes to address patients' biophysical, psychological, educational, and environmental needs.
  2. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including walking and assisting patients physically.
  3. Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, and patient safety.
  4. Current AHA BLS certification.
  5. Adaptability, accuracy, and good visual acuity.
  6. Strong clinical skills and basic math skills for handling cash transactions.
  7. Proficient computer skills, including data entry and typing.
  8. Honest, dependable, and conscientious.
  9. Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management systems.
Required Experience
  1. High school diploma or equivalent, with graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  2. Competency validation by a supervising physician if acquired through practice acquisition.
  3. At least 10 years of experience with the specific physician/practice.
  4. Minimum six months of front and back medical office experience; two years preferred.
  5. Valid California Driver’s License for those in the Float Pool.
  6. Ability to maintain composure in high-activity environments and excellent communication skills.
