Medical Assistant – Palmetto Greenville Urology
Job Summary

The Medical Assistant works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for examinations.

Essential Functions
  • Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and community members respectfully
  • Prepares and reviews patient charts for upcoming visits, verifying all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and medical records are accurate and current
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
  • Performs clerical duties like checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems promptly
  • Other duties as assigned
Education
  • High School Degree or GED
Licensure/Certification

Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required within 12 months of start date):

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing
  • If unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not in South Carolina)

BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for some locations; preferred at hire, required before independent patient care)

Experience
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred)
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred)
Skills & Abilities
  • Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Engages professionally with staff and patients
