Medical Assistant OR Clinical Team Assistant

Medical Assistant

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant I role involves patient care and administrative duties in a team-based environment, ensuring smooth patient flow. The Medical Assistant I works under the license of a physician or advanced practice provider when performing clinical and patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following: graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience; completed an Adult Education Medical Assistant program with 6 months of clinical experience; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice. Equivalent experience will be evaluated case-by-case.
  2. License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification preferred or obtained within 1 year of eligibility. Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of start. For positions in New Hampshire, NH Med Tech License or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license are required.
  3. Experience: Relevant Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements: N/A

Additional Skills/Requirements Required:

  • Conduct telehealth visits; strong digital literacy, proficiency with telehealth platforms, high patient care standards.
  • EMR experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with compassion and empathy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Problem-solving mindset focused on patient care and team goals.
  • Detail-oriented for report and data accuracy.
  • Proficient in basic phone and computer operations.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred:

  • Strong oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, products, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain organized systems for patient flow.
  • Calmness in busy or stressful situations.

Clinical Team Assistant

Position Summary:

The Clinical Team Assistant supports the clinical team with patient services and functions under a provider’s license when performing clinical duties.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited health sciences program or student in a relevant program with clinical experience; completion of an MA program without externship; healthcare vocational program with patient-facing component; or relevant clinical experience evaluated case-by-case.
  2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification required within three months of hire.
  3. Experience: N/A

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting patients, measuring vital signs, recording data.

  • Assisting with community resource identification and handling biomedical waste as per standards.
