Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the care team in ambulatory settings across the Barrington and Crystal Lake offices. This full-time role emphasizes patient-centered care, administrative duties, and collaboration with providers to ensure smooth patient transitions.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, MA program completion or certification, and preferred phlebotomy skills. Expect a standard 8am–5pm schedule with no weekends.

Schedule Details/Additional Information: Barrington and Crystal Lake Office are open from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays. Crystal Lake is the primary location however, if an MA is needed for coverage at the Barrington Office, there may be opportunities to float to that location.

Pay Range: $22.90 - $34.35

Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

What You'll Do:

Barrington and Crystal Lake Office are open from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays. Crystal Lake is the primary location however, if an MA is needed for coverage at the Barrington Office, there may be opportunities to float to that location.

As a Medical Assistant , you'll play a vital role in the care team - supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

• Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
• Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
• Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
• Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
• Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
• Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
• May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
• Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
• Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
• Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
