Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care across multiple CT locations. You will conduct vitals, screenings, and health maintenance under provider direction, and perform EKGs as part of routine assessments.

The role includes administrative duties, scheduling, check-in/out, referrals, and prior authorizations, with occasional travel to Hamden, New Haven and Branford as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program or CT CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification.
• BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• All required credentials maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under provider supervision, including vitals and screenings.
• Perform manual blood pressure and EKGs.
• Administrative duties: scheduling, check-in/out, referrals, prior authorizations.
• Cover front desk based on business needs; float to other offices as required.

Job Description

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.

• Provides direct patient care under direction of provider, including but not limited to vitals, allergy/ medical reconciliation, screenings, patient history, health maintenance, advance directives and virtual health.
• Performs manual blood pressure and EKG's
• Provides indirect patient care related to the Medical Assistant scope of education including but not limited to scheduling, check in/out, referrals, chart prep and prior authorizations. Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
• Performs administrative duties and covers front desk based on business needs.
• Floats to other offices based on business needs

Travel to satellite sites (Hamden, New Haven and Branford) when needed.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.

Experience:

• In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
• Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.
