Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide basic clinical and clerical support within the Medical Assistant scope of education. Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• CT CNA/EMT/Paramedic or Medic Certification or related experience as outlined.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association obtained within 3 months of hire date.
• All required credentials maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under direction of provider, including vitals, allergy/medication reconciliation, screenings, patient history, health maintenance, and advance directives.
• Conducts point of care testing with quality control and documentation.
• Assists providers with in-house procedures as needed.
• Under direction of providers and nurses, delivers other treatments and care as trained.
• Prepares and assists patients undergoing treatments, examinations, and procedures; floats to other offices as needed.
• Provides administrative support including scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations, and transportation facilitation.
• Covers the front desk based on business needs.

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.

Clinical Duties

• Provides direct patient care under direction of provider, including but not limited to vitals, allergy/ medical reconciliation, screenings, patient history, health maintenance, advance directives and virtual health.
• Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
• Assists providers with in-house procedures as needed
• Under direction of providers and nurses, provides other treatments and care to patients appropriate to training, as assigned.
• Prepares and assists patients undergoing treatments, examinations, and procedures. Floats to other offices based on business needs.

Administrative Duties

• Provides administrative support including but not limited to scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.
• Covers the front desk based on business needs.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.

Experience:

• In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
• Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.
